Oh, the places I go

Boy, having a big sister in kindergarten certainly keeps us hoppin'! I had my first haircut in August, first bike race in September, and a walk around the pumpkin patch in October (or as I call them: apples). I am climbing everything, including the rock wall in the backyard. This week I had surgery for my first set of ear tubes. Happiness will be no more ear infections! Monday will bring Halloween, a whole bunch more adventures for me as an inquiring toddler.

Busy, fun-filled, sunny days

No one warned me about how much fun it is to be 1! Lately it seems we've been going from one fun adventure to the next. The first newsflash is that I started walking on April 23rd! Just in time for Easter and our trip to the beach. We hosted a nice Easter Dinner with the family at our house. Then a few days later we were in the car headed to the coast. Recently Mommy and I got bikes (mine is a trailer) and sister got a tandem attachment to connect to Daddy's bike. So now all 4 of us can ride together. I like to take naps in my bike trailer. We rode together at the beach. We also took Dublin for walks and played in the sand. After we returned from the coast, Grama Ellen came to visit for a few days. We all went to Sea World together and had a blast at the Bay of Play. Sister got to meet a few of her favorite Sesame Street characters.

One Year Old & New Worlds to Explore

I had a great first birthday! Everyone came over and I got my own cake. The fresh fruit on top and inside was simply delicious. Eating is definitely something I excel in--in fact I am starting to be a threat to sister's share of the food! I played with my cousin Dante and some cool new toys. As of March 27 I was saying two things: "Da" (dog or dad) and "uh-oh". Uh oh would be my favorite thing to say, especially right before I hurl the projectile of the moment. Then a couple days later I took my first steps while Mommy & Grampa Jeff watched. By April Fool's day I had taken 3 steps according to my teachers--no foolin'! I look forward to bike rides with my family this spring. Fiesta starts this week, and I can't wait to party!

February Fun

Well it's only the 5th day of February yet I have so much to share! Since last I wrote we celebrated sister's bday & cousin's bday. Mommy & Daddy have started giving me all sorts of fun finger foods: cereal, peas, carrots, apple & banana chunks, scrambled egg, diced chicken and more. I sit in my high chair and feed myself while the rest of the family eats dinner. I really love my solid foods! Mommy & Daddy don't remember sister putting this much away at her age! We've had quite a bit of excitement the last few days. I saw snow for the first time! It was just a dusting of the white stuff, but some freezing rain came down first and made the roads icy. We went out in the morning and Mommy let me crawl on the snow. The cold snow on my hands made me cry! We took pictures of the house with snow on it. This tiny bit of precipitation managed to close all the schools in town, Mommy & Daddy's offices and ALL highways. The highways opened by 11:00 AM once the sun was out and melted everything.

Today was sunny and in the 60s, and all stubborn traces of snow were erased from the Texas landscape. It was our annual trip to the Rodeo. Well, my first rodeo and Maddie's 5th! We started in the arena watching kids try to ride sheep, and men and women riding everything else. After the rodeo was the Lady Antebellum show, my first concert! We stayed for a little bit, and then headed for the pony rides and petting zoo. Tomorrow is another first: Superbowl! I guess I will cheer for the Packers to make Grampa Bob & Grama Jan happy.

Happy New Year!

Oh, what a whirl of activity the last month! The crawling is really coming in handy to get me from one amazing experience to the next. It's great being able to get into trouble with cousin Dante. We enjoyed lots of great parties and times with family, not to mention Christmas and sister's 5th birthday! I've been expanding my culinary horizons beyond milk to many fun solid foods like yogurt, avocado and these little cereal puffs. They tell me this is a pretty mild "winter" so far here in Texas. It's hard to believe that soon we will celebrate my first birthday.

I have been working on this for a few weeks, but I finally got it down today!
Mommy and Daddy are now busy baby-proofing the house again and putting a gate around the christmas tree.
I can also wave good-bye and am now eating some baby food - I have quite an appetite.

Halloween Fun

Uncle Reid and Aunt Laura came to visit for Halloween. Sis got her first two-wheeler, compliments of Reid & Laura. It's pink & purple & sparkly just like her! I grew out of my bucket so now I ride in the stroller and a big boy carseat. We went to the zoo and met the hippos! Aunt Laura went trick or treating with us and Mommy. We visited cousin Dante who was so adorable as a kangaroo. I kept trying to steal his joey!
